About Us

Lycans Den MMA is a mixed martial arts academy located in Urbana, Illinois. We are the only gym in town that offers a wide variety of martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, Wrestling, and MMA classes to the Champaign-Urbana area and surrounding communities. Our programs are designed for anyone regardless of age and skill level. Whether you are interested in self-defense, physical fitness, or are a serious competitor, Lycans Den is the place for you. Join Professor James Martin, head instructor at Lycan's Den MMA, as he teaches simple self-defense techniques and strategies! 🤼♂️

He will teach you how to close the distance, take down a bigger opponent, and learn how to control them using a combination of Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques. 🥋🥊 He will also discuss topics that encourage attendees to make good decisions, to speak up when something does not seem right, and to use physical techniques only if there is a real threat.

The next Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition that we’re planning on participating in as a team is the North American Grappling Association (NAGA). 🤼♂️🥋

This tournament is scheduled for ✨SATURDAY, MAY 11TH✨ at the Oak Lawn Pavilion (9401 Oak Park Ave. Oak Lawn, IL 60453).📍

The early registration deadline ends on May 3rd with May 10th being the last day to register. 🗓️

We're so excited to officially announce that we're adding a ✨NEW BOXING PROGRAM✨ at the start of the new year! 🥊

These classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm starting on January 8th, 2024! 🗓 They're going to be taught by our very own professional bare knuckle boxer, Stevo Morris, and Quynten Watson!

This program is designed for anyone ages ten and up in the beginner to intermediate level. During these classes, you will learn basic boxing combinations, head movement, footwork, and defense and counters. 🤼♂️ It will be solely focused on technique with no sparring involved.

If you and/or your child are already enrolled in a membership and are interested in adding this program, please see Cassie or James Martin about pricing details.

Many students have been requesting us to incorporate boxing classes into the schedule and we are thrilled to be able to now offer this new program as we know it will greatly benefit everyone, whether you are a hobbyist or are a serious competitor! 👊🐺
